Lake Norman Fall Activities Guide 2026

Fall in Lake Norman is my favorite season, hands down. The lake quiets down, the trees put on a show around Davidson and Cornelius, and there’s a genuinely packed calendar of festivals, farms, and cozy spots to work through before the holidays take over. Here’s the 2026 lineup.

Festivals at the Lake

Laketoberfest returns to Cornelius on October 10, 2026—the town’s fourteenth year running it—with live music, food trucks, and local breweries pouring along the waterfront.

Cornelius also has its Festival of Cultures on September 12, 2026, and the Halloween Treat Trail on October 24, 2026.

The other towns aren’t sitting this one out either. Davidson stacks its whole fall calendar back to back: the Fall Arts Festival on September 12, A Taste of Davidson on October 17, Halloweekend downtown October 23–25, and the Davidson Cookie Crawl on November 7.

Huntersville’s headline event is the Carolina Renaissance Festival, running weekends from October 3 through November 22—knights jousting, turkey legs, the whole medieval-fair experience, just up the road. Mooresville keeps things a little more low-key with the Lake Norman Philharmonic‘s free outdoor concert at Liberty Park on October 2, plus its ongoing Food Truck nights downtown.

New Spots to Try This Fall

Two new additions worth building a fall Saturday around: Suffolk Punch Brewing just opened its third Charlotte-area location at Birkdale Village, with a rooftop bar that’s made for cooler weather. And The Serve Pickleball + Kitchen opened nearby with sixteen courts and a full restaurant—good for a group outing before dinner.

If you haven’t been to Josh’s Farmers Market lately, it’s worth a revisit too. After years of moving locations, it finally opened a permanent home on Joe V Knox Avenue in Mooresville this past June, with the same great produce and local vendors like Cottage Grove Bakery showing up on weekends.

Main Street Books in Davidson and Fred & June Books in Mooresville are both worth a stop if you want a slower kind of fall afternoon—new releases, local author events, and a reason to actually get out of the car.

Fall Fun on the Farm

Pumpkin patches, haunted trails, and apple groves are just a few ways you can have fun on the farm this fall in Lake Norman! Whether you’re young or old, Lake Norman has something fun for you to do this fall, especially if it’s on the farm!

Rural Hill’s Maze Adventures, Carrigan Farms, and Patterson Farm remain the go-to spots for pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and hayrides. Pricing and specific weekend hours change from year to year, so check current details from each place before you head out.

Tip: Patterson Farm is an especially great spot for preschool to elementary aged kids.
