Let’s face it. We live in a world where chain restaurants are on every corner. While they certainly satisfied a need in our fast-paced culture, it’s important to have home-grown establishments that allow us to slow down and enjoy great food, family and friends. We are fortunate to have several locally owned restaurants in Lake Norman.
Hello, Sailor!
If you consider yourself a ‘foodie’ in even the basic sense, you’ve probably heard of or been to Kindred in downtown Davidson. Owned and operated by locals Katy and Joe Kindred, the restaurant was ranked 7th among the country’s top 10 restaurants in Bon Apetite magazine. The couple recently purchased the popular lakeside watering hole, Rusty Rudder which closed its doors in October. After a complete renovation, Hello Sailor will open in 2017 and offer a casual dining experience that is sure to impress.
The Block & Grinder
Block & Grinder recently opened it’s second location in LangTree at Lake Norman. The 6,700 square foot location boasts a butcher counter, wine shop and restaurant. Patrons can relax and enjoy amazing meats and local produce paired with wine or craft beer. Every meat selection is hand-cut behind the butcher counter and the knowledgeable staff can suggest preparation options. Block & Grinder takes farm to table to an elevated level but does so in a relaxing, laid back atmosphere.
Monsoon Asian Grill & Sushi
Keeping it fresh and fun are important to the Jose’s. Monsoon Asian Grill & Sushi is the third restaurant opened in Mooresville by a member of this talented culinary family. This inconspicuous spot offers healthy eating but doesn’t skimp on taste. Meals are made to order with gluten-free options. In addition, all dressings are made in house. Sushi, Bento Boxes and rice bowls are tailored to fit your palette. Wash down your great meal with a drink from the full bar which includes local crafts and a hot sake machine!
Just remember….you don’t have to go far or get fancied-up to enjoy great, local cuisine in the Lake Norman area!
