The Lake Norman area is home to some of the greatest greenways and parks in the Charlotte area, helping make Lake Norman a wonderful place to live. One of the (arguably) best parks in the area is Ramsey Creek Park, located in the lake town of Cornelius.

  • Boat Launching Area
  • Beach Area (open from Memorial Day-Labor Day)

  • Docks
  • Dog Park

  • Horseshoe Pit
  • Playground

This park is especially great because it has something for everyone including an ADA-accessible fishing pier, a summertime beach front for the whole family, a playground for the kids, and even a dog park for Fido! This park will leave you wanting for nothing.

Boating

Whether you’re looking to launch your boat or jet ski, this is a great place for you! The boat launch is in great condition, with an excellent dock. Note: the dock is not adjacent to the boat launch. It’s slightly off to the side. This side of Lake Norman bit quieter than the main channel, so you’ll experience less watercraft traffic. Ample trailer parking is available as well.

Playground & Shelters

Ramsey Creek Playground has an excellent play area for kids, including slides, unique climbing structures, side-by-side zip lines, and swing-sets. The ground cover is mulched, and there are plenty of trees surrounding the area for shade during late spring and summer months.

In addition to the playground, there are three shelters at Ramsey Creek Park, great for family gatherings, birthday parties, or even a romantic date night (yes, the sunsets here are great!) If you’d like to reserve a shelter, you can visit this website.

Dog Park

Fido is going to love you for this one. If your pup is looking for a friend to play with at a park, look no further! Ramsey Creek Dog Park has plenty furry friends for Fido to play with, with a wide expanse (4 acres worth!) for them to run around, explore, and sniff to their hearts content. There are benches and tables available for owners to relax while their pet runs around and plays.

Big pup or little pup? This park has a place for you! There is one area for dogs greater than 20lbs and another for dogs less than 20lbs. Follow the signs at the entrance.

Dog Park Rules: Dogs must be current on Rabies (with tag number), Distemper, and Bordetella to play at this park.

Beach

Yes, you heard right. Cornelius has a beach! While this beach errs on the smaller side, it doesn’t lack in the area of great views of the lake, a safe swimming area that is sectioned off from boaters, and that sandy beach front that so many of us crave here on the shores of Lake Norman!

There are fees to enjoy this beach:

Per vehicle – County resident, $10.00

Per vehicle – Non-resident, $15.00

Senior citizen or person with disability – County resident, $2.00

Senior citizen or person with disability – Non-resident, $3.00

Overall, you can see the this park has a lot of points of interest for the whole family to enjoy. Remember, this is just one of 230 parks in Mecklenburg County (many of which are Lake Norman Area Parks), so if it’s not your cup of tea, then I can promise you that another park is right around the corner, ready for you to explore.

The parks in this area are just one of the things that make Lake Norman a great place to live. If you’re curious what the real estate landscape looks like, just hop over here and check out the available listings.
